Inspired by her daughter Amy’s story, Jane established Share Shrewsbury to help families, young people and communities have earlier, more honest conversations about alcohol and wellbeing. She now leads prevention programmes in schools and with families across Shropshire, helping people make healthier and more informed choices.
She campaigns to call on the government to deliver both a national alcohol strategy, and a national public health campaign to inform the public about the dangers of alcohol.
A qualified Consultant Speech and Language Therapist and Art Therapist, Jane brings decades of experience in healthcare, public policy, communications and community leadership. She has worked in senior NHS and leadership roles across England and Wales, including national policy work within Westminster and Whitehall.
As England Policy Officer for the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, Jane represented more than 15,000 professionals, led national campaigns, built cross-sector partnerships and, in 2006, founded the All Party Parliamentary Group for Speech and Language Difficulties, which remains active in Parliament today.
Jane has also served as a Shropshire Councillor, Shrewsbury Town Councillor, Non-Executive Director of Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, and Mayor of Shrewsbury.
Combining professional expertise with lived experience, Jane speaks with honesty, compassion and clarity — challenging stigma and inspiring change within communities, schools and policy forums.
Alongside her professional work, she considers being a mother to her four children to be her proudest achievement.
