I learnt all about alcohol addiction from my eldest daughter Amy, who struggled with alcohol dependence all her adult life.

Watching her slowly losing her battle with alcohol and feeling powerless to stop the progress of this dreadful disease, was a deeply painful experience for myself, our family and her friends.

I became an expert by experience and was shocked to find out that sufferers are often denied the right treatment, and that the stigma surrounding addiction is evident even amongst those very professionals who are there to support them.

 Amy died suddenly in 2019 aged just 37 years and our lives changed forever.

Through our grief we have realised that if Amy’s story can prevent one child or adult from following her path, then something  good can come from our loss.

Since then, Amy’s voice has become a thread running through everything we do, and Amy’s story is at the heart of our workshops.

 It is a compelling and compassionate narrative which gets the prevention message across to people of all ages.
